Those Who Light Fires from Afar

I despise those who live safely in Western countries, the United States, or any other peaceful place, yet encourage people inside Iran to revolt, engage in conflict, and bear costs that they themselves would never be willing to pay.

Courage from behind a safe curtain has no meaning. Courage is not urging others to step into the battlefield from thousands of kilometers away. True courage is being willing to bear the very same price you expect others to pay.

History has repeatedly shown that during every political crisis, there are those outside the country's borders who call on people to take to the streets with fiery slogans. Yet when bullets are fired, prisons fill up, families are left mourning, and the future of an entire generation is shattered, they continue living comfortably in their safe homes, issuing nothing more than another statement.

No nation has ever been saved by momentary emotions. Real and lasting change requires reason, organization, responsibility, and a willingness to accept the consequences—not emotional incitement from a safe distance.

Criticizing a government is the right of every citizen. Opposing a government's policies is also a fundamental human right. But there is a profound moral and human difference between criticism and encouraging others to pay a price that you are unwilling to pay yourself.

The worst kind of leadership is leadership from behind secure walls. Anyone who faces no personal danger has no moral right to invite others into danger. Human lives must never become instruments for fulfilling the political ambitions of any individual or group.

If someone truly cares about the people of Iran, they should, above all, advocate solutions that minimize human suffering and cost.

Change is valuable only when it is built upon truth, responsibility, and honesty—not upon the shoulders of those who are expected to pay the price for someone else's decisions.

I do not hate freedom, nor do I oppose the pursuit of justice. What I despise are those who seek freedom at the expense of others while preserving their own safety. Those who ignite fires from afar are usually the last ones to breathe the smoke.
