Which Side Is God On? This is perhaps one of the oldest questions in human history. A question that has been asked over and over again—from battlefields to places of worship, from palaces to charitable homes: Which side is God on? There has rarely been a war in which both sides did not consider themselves the representatives of God. There has been no power that has not used the name of God to legitimize itself. Even some of the greatest crimes have begun under sacred slogans. But is God truly on the side of a particular people, a particular country, a particular religion, or a particular political party? If so, why is history full of the defeats of those who called themselves "the army of God"? Why have governments that engraved the name of God on their banners so often been associated with oppression, corruption, and injustice?
